Downtown Kyoto is at its most atmospheric by night with its traditional wooden neighbourhoods converted into trendy (and expensive!) restaurants and bars.
Not much to look at by day, the streets come alive by night, crowned by the twinkling, beckoning and hypnotic charm of thousands glamour-laden lanterns.

Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry written in the pattern of 5,7,5 morae (syllables). It might sound a bit boring but I thought it would be a good way to depict the breathtaking garden of Kyoto’s Nanzenji Temple, with it’s vibrant display of autumn leaves.
Over the wintry
forest, winds howl in rage
